A few years back we decided to plant a Passiflora edulis, we wanted a vine that had a unique flower and also were interested in attracting pollinators into our yard. We bought a plant that we got for a significant discount that had "significant insect damage." (Come to find out this damage was from the previous years caterpillars.) The salesperson that showed us the plant offered us a really good discount so we decided to purchase it. We bought the plant significantly before spring and watched the vine grow. We were shocked how big the plant got as we thought the first year was going to be a "rescue" year. Fast forward to spring, we saw a butterfly visit the plant, at the time we didn't know why the butterfly was there, however, within a month we saw caterpillars and butterflies on a daily basis. Now that we have had the plant for three years we are incredibly excited every spring to welcome the caterpillars and  back!
